Privacy Policy

Bournemouth IT Solutions Ltd (Trading as ‘bits’)

This Privacy Policy outlines how Bournemouth IT Solutions Ltd (“bits”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use our services or visit our website. We are committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

1. Data Collection and Usage

We collect, store, and process personal data necessary for the provision of our services. This data may include, but is not limited to:

  • Your name
  • Contact details (address, email, phone number)
  • Device information
  • Login details and passwords (for repair purposes only)
  • Payment information
  • Any other information you provide us in relation to the services we provide

This data is collected to provide you with our services, including but not limited to, repair diagnostics, customer support, and order processing. We will only collect the minimum necessary data required for these purposes.

2. Data Security

All data we collect is stored securely and encrypted to industry standards, including AES 256 encryption where applicable. We follow strict security procedures in storing and disclosing your information and ensuring its protection against loss, misuse, or alteration.

Your personal files are only ever are accessed if you use your data recovery service. In order for this to occur, we require your password and by virtue of this, your permission. Recovered data is securely erased once no longer needed for the purposes of your repair.

We do not ask for passwords as part of our repair service as Apple Silicon introduces a new diagnostic method available to third party stores (Apple Diagnostics for Self Service Repair).

For the following Intel MacBook models that contain the T2 chip, we need the login password for testing – this is because Apples diagnostic software is not compatible, and therefore access to your device is the only way we can thoroughly test it before dispatch. Alternatively, we can erase the device for testing purposes, provided it has been removed from any associated iCloud or Find My accounts. If the device remains linked to iCloud/Find My, it will become activation locked after the erase, requiring the Apple ID and password to unlock (unless it is remotely unlocked through iCloud.com).

Once the data is transferred to the customer, it will be securely deleted from our systems in accordance with the HMG Infosec Standard 5.
  • CCTV and Audio Recordings: CCTV footage is stored for up to 60 days, and telephone recordings for up to 3 years. These recordings are used for safety, the prevention of crime, or as a record of business transactions.
