Keyboard Only Replacement
If individual keys are unresponsive or work intermittently, this likely indicates a keyboard failure that requires replacement. This service is also perfect for resolving sticky keys caused by liquid or debris ingress. On Mac models, the keyboard is riveted to the aluminum chassis, meaning Apple typically replaces the entire palm rest assembly, including the battery and chassis—an extremely costly option.

Unlike Windows, key issues on a Mac are rarely software-related, unless ‘Sticky Keys’ is enabled in Accessibility settings.
For Mac models released between 2016 and 2017, Apple introduced the second-generation butterfly keyboard, designed to make the keyboard thinner. However, these models are prone to sticky or unresponsive keys caused by dust and debris entering the mechanism. This issue is common and typically requires a full keyboard replacement to resolve.
In 2018, Apple refined the design with the third-generation butterfly keyboard, adding a membrane beneath the keycaps and changing the material of the mechanism. While this reduced the likelihood of dust ingress, it did not completely eliminate the problem.
From 2020 onwards, Apple reintroduced the scissor-switch mechanism, branded as the ‘Magic Keyboard,’ offering increased key travel and significantly lowering the risk of failure due to debris. For these newer models, keyboard issues are less common and usually stem from liquid damage. In either case, replacing the keyboard will fully restore functionality.
In over a decade of business, we have heard endless grievances from our customers about other repair shops and even the Apple Store. Lack of transparency about pricing and what work is actually required is the most frequent complaint.
Shops regularly underquote, underdiagnose and then the price increases once they have your Mac in their possession. Customers then feel pressured to go ahead and authorise the repair.

I recently had my 2017 iMac fail. I put quote requests out none replied, only bits. I was told the price for repairs up front. They fitted a new power supply which got it working but found another fault on the motherboard which they fixed. I was kept informed and had explanation of my repairs. This company is great. I dropped my MacBook and needed a new screen started of and messaged them on their WhatsApp link and they gave me costs and explained the process. When I arrived there the lady on the reception was really nice had a small chat and we picked it up later that day and Mac screen is like new really impressed with their services. I had a really positive experience of BITS. I took in my iMac in with a suspected power supply issue, mid-afternoon. The following morning (just 18 hours later) I was contacted to say that the replacement power supply was fitted and diagnostic checks were complete. I went in to collect and was given space and time to start-up and check the computer.
I'm really pleased with the service as well as the courteous and efficient dealings with Muhammad and Adam. Good price too, I imagine a fraction of the Apple price!

Very helpful, took my laptop for the first time and got it fixed super quickly. There seemed to be a problem a little after with the screen, took it in again and they sorted it out very quickly again and with no fuzz under the warranty, even gave me advice on other non-related problems I had. Great job. My daughter had destroyed the screen and chassis of her iPad pro 12.9 and then it stopped working. BITS were up front and transparent about costs, they ordered a new motherboard, replaced the screen and put in a new charging port. All for a fair price. Good comms, nice people.
