Yes.
True Tone is a display technology developed by Apple, designed to automatically adjust the color balance and brightness of your screen to match the ambient lighting conditions around you. The goal is to make the display appear more natural and comfortable for your eyes.
When True Tone is enabled, sensors in your device measure the color temperature of the surrounding light (whether it’s warm, yellowish indoor lighting or cooler, bluish outdoor lighting) and adjust the display’s white point accordingly. For example, under warm lighting, the display will take on a slightly warmer tone, while under cooler lighting, it will become cooler and more neutral. Our brain does the exact same thing – chromatic adaptation!
This adjustment helps reduce eye strain and creates a more consistent viewing experience, as the screen appears more like a sheet of paper reflecting ambient light, rather than emitting an unnatural light. True Tone is commonly found in Apple devices like iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks, particularly those with Retina displays.
The True Tone sensors are calibrated to your Mac – when replacing your display with a third party, you will lose this calibration and therefore, True Tone. As we only replace the LCD panel – your sensors remain untouched, and correctly calibrated – therefore, you keep your True Tone, just as you would if you went to an Apple Store.
